Frequently Asked Questions About Tattoo Conventions

Whether you're attending the Rubber City Tattoo Invitational, the Cranberry Tattoo Classic, or your very first tattoo convention, we’ve answered some of the most common questions about tickets, getting tattooed, contests, appointments, and what to expect during the weekend.

Still have questions? Contact us — we’re always happy to help.

HOW DO I GET TATTOOED AT THE CONVENTION?

Start by browsing our featured artists to find someone whose style matches what you're looking for. Once you narrow it down, contact the artist directly using the booking information in their profile or social media pages and let them know which show you’ll be attending.
Don’t want to book ahead of time? No problem. Many artists also take walk-up tattoos during the convention weekend.
The best part of a tattoo convention is being able to explore different styles, meet artists in person, and find someone whose work and personality feel like the right fit for your next tattoo.

CAN I GET TATTOOED WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT?

Yes. Many artists attending the Rubber City Tattoo Invitational leave time open for walk-up tattoos during the weekend.
Availability varies by artist, so if there’s someone specific you’d like to get tattooed by, we still recommend reaching out ahead of time whenever possible.

HOW MUCH ARE TICKETS?

Daily admission is $25 and weekend passes are $50. Tickets are available online and at the door.

Tickets include access to the full convention floor featuring tattoo artists, vendors, contests, entertainment, live tattooing, and all scheduled convention events throughout the weekend.

Children under 18 are admitted free with a parent or guardian. WE DO NOT TATTOO ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18. NO EXCEPTIONS.

IS THE SHOW FAMILY-FRIENDLY?

Yes. The Rubber City Tattoo Invitational is designed to be welcoming for attendees of all ages.

While anyone getting tattooed must be at least 18 years old, admission is free for anyone under 18 attending with a parent or guardian.

In addition to tattooing, the convention features vendors, entertainment, contests, artwork, and a Kids’ Tattoo Contest on Sunday where children can draw tattoos on themselves or someone else and learn more about tattoo art and creativity.

HOW DO TATTOO CONTESTS WORK?

Tattoo contests take place throughout the weekend and highlight standout work across a wide range of tattoo styles and categories.
Some categories are judged based on tattoos completed during the convention, while others allow healed tattoos completed before the event.
Contest categories may include:

  • Black & Grey

  • Full Color

  • Traditional

  • Fine Line

  • Anime

  • Large Tattoo

  • Small Tattoo

  • Tattoo of the Day

  • Best Multi-Day

  • Best of Show

You can see our full contest schedule here.

WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO BESIDES GET TATTOOED?

Our conventions are more than just tattooing. Throughout the weekend, attendees can explore vendors, watch live tattoo competitions, attend themed entertainment events, enter or watch the pin-up contest, and experience one of the area's most unique tattoo convention weekends.
